VOLKSWAGEN OFFERS COMPREHENSIVE RETROFIT RANGE FOR DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER

 

Wolfsburg, 1 April 2005 – Following its comprehensive Euro4 initiative for diesel vehicles since 2002, Volkswagen will be offering a comprehensive retrofit range for more than six million diesel vehicles across Europe starting in the autumn.

 

As one of the largest providers of passenger cars with diesel engines and with the largest market share in Germany, Volkswagen is starting its comprehensive and long-term retrofit campaign: from autumn this year, Volkswagen will be offering retrofit solutions for particulate filter systems to more than six million of its customers across Europe for vehicles which previously complied with the Euro2, Euro3 or Euro4 standard. “This is a very significant step in the fight against pollution. We are taking action in areas where the effects will be felt immediately: a Euro2 engine gives out considerably more soot particulates than a modern TDI”, says Dr. Bernd Pischetsrieder, Chairman of the Board of Management at Volkswagen AG.

 

The retrofit range will cover the Polo, Golf IV and Golf V, Bora, Touran, Caddy, New Beetle, the fifth generation Passat, Sharan and the current Multivan as well as its predecessor.
