Im hoping to buy off someone here a 1.6 engine with hydraulic tappets like from a golf 2 driver model.

I drive a 77 1.6 golf and the engine is getting a little tired so would be nice to put a later one in.

Think hydraulic tappet models started from around 87.

Doesn't need to inc carb as i have a weber replacement one.

 

live in trondheim but I'm willing to travel.

let me know what you got.

 

Oh and I'm still needing a bronze windscreen if someone has.

Do you know if earlier manifolds will fit so i can fit a carb? (wanna keep it looking fairly stock so hoping a mk2 manifold with a weber would fit)

The 101 hp 1.6 is a cross flow engine, so the earlier manifolds will not fit.

For the 1.6, yes. The 1.8 90hp engine was made to 97, and that is the last I know of. Shouldn't be that hard to find a 1.6 though.

I've done 1.8 16v conversions before in the UK but in Norway you have to have it inspected and approved plus all things fitted seem to need TUV certificates.

i got the coil overs approved in trondheim but they complained the offset of my ronal turbos were 1mm above what vw recommend so not legal!

So im guessing its very difficult to get a performance modification approved?

i was hoping to get the weber approved. if you have any tips of how to get a 16v approved or what i need to show for approval that would be great.

Its difficult to find info on getting approval on modifications.

There is a forum thread on it in the classic part. 16v demands gti spec brakes.

still looking for a 1.6 87-95 model petrol engine and 5 speed box.

would be great if its from sør or nord trondelag but will consider from anywhere : )
